October 5 through 11 in the Studio

There are some fun things coming up this week and as usual I’m running late in getting a newsletter out. So you lucky ones who actually read the blog will get the first shot at signing up for these fab classes.

Monday 3pm-7pm Drop in FREE Make & Take: Shrink Plastic Charms were such fun in “Charm School” on Thursday night, I’m bringing out the plastic and we’ll play some more. Punch, color, stamp and shrink…these beauties are perfect for adding to cards, gift wrapping, jewelry and more.

Tuesday is the first session of our Fall Kid’s Club. This week kids ages 8 and up will decoupage a wooden letter. After the surface is covered, they will embellish till their heart is content..Click here to register your artist in this session

Tuesday at 6pm is one of my favorite classes. Mini Watercolor Journals. The folding technique is what this one is all about. Once you get it down, you’re hooked! In class you will fold at least two mini books perfect for doodling, writing, quotes, pictures or just about anything. Come and catch mini book fever! Click here to register.

The first session of our new Tuesday Night book club is starting this week. Dorit Elisha’s book, Printmaking + Mixed Media is sure to inspire. This week we are covering basic monotype printing. Click here to register for the first session OR click here to see what we’re doing for the next two months in this book and perhaps sign up for the whole series (and save 20% on the class fee)

Do you have some daytime hours free and need a place to hang out and be creative? Join us for our daytime session of a Craft Rave! “What is a Craft Rave?” you ask…well, it is open studio time for you to work on whatever craft your heart desires. Have you taken a class here before and haven’t had nearly enough time to work on the skill you learned or project you started? This is the perfect time to dig in and practice. All the studio tools and supplies are at your fingertips. I’m here to show you where stuff is and remind you how things work. Best of all, it is affordable! Only $20 for 4 hours of studio time and all the coffee, tea and me you desire. Click here to reserve your table for this Wednesday from 10am-2pm.

Wednesday 6-9pm: This tree gets so much attention..it really doesn’t photograph well though. Trust me when I say, you want to make this tree and take it home with you. It is the perfect thing to hang just about any treasure on. Jewelry, charms, ornaments…or just leave it barren and enjoy its natural beauty. Tis the season for the Copper Tree…click here to register. This is one of the last times this year the class will be offered.

Wednesday 7:30-9pm is all about Scrapbooking! Scrapbook Studio is a time to come and get some serious scrapping done. Learn something new, or just come and crop. All supplies are included. All you have to do is show up with your photos and you’ll get stuff done! Click here to join us this week….make some time for yourself.

Charm School continues on Thursday at 6pm. This week we are filling charms with epoxy resin. Feel free to come armed with mini collage bits or dig into our bins of collage fodder to make them while you are here…or you can even simply take pretty paper and glue it down. The highlight of the class is mixing the two-part epoxy resin and pouring it over the images. You’ll want to leave them at least overnight in the studio to cure. The finished result is a glass like surface that magnifies whatever image is below. Click here to register for this session

Thursday 7:30-9pm: This is week two of Mixed Media Mosaics. No fear though, you can still join us and make some incredible tiles for future projects. This week we are making hand rolled tiles with white polymer clay. We are adding score marks to the clay before baking so there will be “coloring lines” to paint on later. Come empty handed, leave with tons of handmade tiles! Click here to register.

Friday night 6:30-9:30pm Khris Cochran of DIY Bride is offering a fun workshop. She says “Perhaps you’re looking to trick out your Halloween costume or maybe you’re just tired of living a wingless existence. Don’t fret! Come join us for an evening of wire & nylon fun.” Click here to register for Fairy Wings 101.

How did it get to be May 13?

I’ve been a bad blogger!  I admit it!

You can correctly assume that means I’ve been super busy in the studio.

This month I’m trying something new.  Since the book club format has been so successful for the past 4 months I’ve added a book to Wednesday nights as well.  It is working out splendidly.  It is nice focusing on Scrapbooking one night a week.  I’ve missed it.  Scrapbooking was my first love at the very beginning of this business nearly 11 years ago.  While I’ve jumped out of that box and played with wild and reckless abandon, I still love designing pages with photos.

What I’m super excited about at this very moment is the fact that TEESHA MOORE!!  is coming in less than 48 hours!  Can’t believe how lucky we are to have her coming here to teach.  She is a major art idol for me and I hope I don’t totally geek out when I get to meet her!

So, speaking of my art idol, who are YOUR art idols?

Comment with your favorites and maybe, just maybe we’ll get them to come and teach here too!
