Coming Soon…Roxanne Evans Stout

We are so happy Roxanne is able to come back for another class in our studio.  Her organic nature filled approach to mixed-media is so refreshing.

Here is what Roxanne is teaching on Saturday night, January 17 (5pm-8:30pm)  &  Sunday, January 18 (10am-5pm)

Have you always been entranced by the changes that each season brings to the world of nature, to your life and in your art? As a new year begins, join mixed-media artist Roxanne Evans Stout for a magical two days of art making, and create a beautiful Tapestry Collages that represents nature’s seasons. Roxanne will guide you in this project, which could either be a wall hanging or artist book that you will cherish forever.

For our Tapestry Collage will use four sheets of 8”x 8” of handmade Khadi Paper and begin our backgrounds by covering both sides of our lovely watercolor sheets with a combination of pan pastels, paints, inks and glazes.

We’ll follow this with a layer of collaged fabrics and rice papers, and then add our focal points: images, small landscapes and collages, found objects and elements of nature. Finally we will add stitching and other details around and through our collaged panels, which will create a personal and unique quality to your work. We will wire our panels together using rivets and hand-twisted wire rings. You will go home with a unique wall hanging or artist book that you will love displaying in your home on the wall or on a shelf or a cabinet!

Materials are all included but feel free to bring your favorite art supplies, photocopied images, found objects and small pieces of nature like pressed leaves or flowers, flat stones or rocks, twigs, seed pods etc.

Roxanne Evans Stout is a mixed media artist who lives and creates in the Pacific Northwest. She teaches art workshops and has had her work shown and been published nationally. Roxanne is constantly inspired by natural history, the mountains and the river lands surrounding her home and this inspiration has always been an integral part of her art. Book arts, art journaling, encaustic painting and collage are her favorite ways to express herself. Roxanne’s current project is creating a book on collaging for North Light Books which will be out in the spring of 2016.

Click here to register.  We need 4 more students before January 5th to make this a “GO” so please don’t wait till the last minute.  If you need to reserve your seat now and pay later use the RSVP option so we know your intention.

Weekend Visitor: Roxanne Evans Stout

What a delightful way to spend a Sunday.  Elbows deep in natural papers and imagery.  Roxanne Evans Stout of River Garden Studio was with us on Sunday for a workshop.  The students all produced lovely works of art under Roxanne’s tutelage.

Getting started…Roxanne brought some lovely papers and images for us to dig through.

Everyone just jumped right in..

Pretty much everyone took a break to visit Tina’s shop “Old Soul Vintage” that is in the back corner of my building (truly a hidden treasure!)

And back to work….the end of the day shots show how prolific everyone was

Happy students

Roxanne was just lovely and we can’t wait to have her back again next year.

Even the aftermath was peaceful
