January & February Book Clubs (yes, two of them)

Standard

I’m excited to start our new format for the  Tuesday and Thursday 6:30-8pm time slot.
Book Club!  We’ll be doing more than just reading these inspirational art filled books.  We’ll be practicing the techniques we find on the pages.

Tuesday night will focus on the book:  Metal Effects by Cheryl Darrow

Metal EffectsLearn to work with art metal (40 gauge aluminum or copper)  using tools and texture plates.

Make extraordinary pieces for decorating your life.  Metal is easy to work with yielding beautiful results with a minimal amount of effort.  Weekly we will practice different techniques from the book and look forward to a visit from Cheryl herself at the end of January.  Cheryl is teaching here in our studio on Friday, January 30 and Saturday, January 31 2009.  She will offer 3 classes 2 times each over these two days.  It will be the special privilege of book club members to spend some private time with Cheryl during her stay.

Each book club session will be $15 and includes metal for a make-and-take project.  Click here to register for any or all of the sessions.

Thursday night will focus on the book:  Collage Unleashed by Traci Bautista

collageunleashed1Having Traci here in the studio in November inspired this whole book club thing into existance.  The book Collage Unleashed is full of techniques that have added  new dimension to my personal art.  I know those who attended Traci’s workshops feel the same.  There is something so freeing in her style.  We, as a group, will continue to explore and experiment with the techniques she shares in her book.  There is also an online yahoo group already set up for people who love the style   http://groups.yahoo.com/group/collageUNLEASHED/

Each session will be $15 with an optional supplies fee of $10 (bring your own paper and paints to have the supplies fee waived)  Click here to register for any or all of the January and February sessions.

Register now, space is limited to 10  memebers in each club.

Building a Crafty Community

Standard

Our mission here is to build a community of like-minded creatives.

If you see the potential in the things we have collected here, if it inspires a spark inside of you…we want you to join our community. You need to be here, we need you here, the creative community will be better with your active participation.

How do we go about this? That is where YOU come in. We can do all the legwork imaginable but the community isn’t about us, it is about YOU. We listen when you tell us what is inspiring to you, we ask who you follow, we encourage “outside-the-box” thinking (relish it even!) Following those cues we have scheduled outside instructors, artists and authors to come, teach and inspire.

The growth of our community through inspiring instruction is an exciting thing.
