Recap of our Creative Planning Weekend

Standard

I look forward to this time away with Julie 2 times a year.  Usually we head to the Santa Cruz Mts. but this time we headed north to Mill Valley.

019

Packed and ready!  Taking 4 times as much art supplies as clothes/toiletries!

021

First stop…Julie’s house…check out the painting she is working on outside!…love love love!

024

next stop, Daiso

025

Hello office supplies…I love you so!…by the end of the weekend I decided on a trade to work on for the upcoming Art Is You Retreat in Petaluma using something in this photograph.

027

Our awesome haul

030

Then Julie turned me on to a cool shop called Typo.  It is a Canadian based office/school supply shop with some pretty cool kitschy stuff.

033

We got a giggle out of this sign

035

A fun shot crossing the bridge

036

My haul from daiso all spread out…some things for me…some for the studio…some for my kids

038

We made quick work of spreading out our supplies…the hotel staff looked at us a bit weird when we asked for a folding table to be brought up to our room…

002

Working on my 31 day challenge

004

Just before turning the lights out to go to sleep…we’ve made quite start to our creative weekend

005

this is the page I’ll work on for the day’s “encouraging word…” just wait to see what it becomes…

006

On Friday evening we drove to Tiburon and saw these amazing huge pieces of art in this field…we headed back out to see what it was all about

010

013

Love how Julie documents the moments and really “lives in” her weekly journal…that is not the only thing she carries in her purse though….

018

She also carries a bag of scrabble tiles…we had fun at lunch making random words and taking photos of them

037

Adorable shops in Tiburon

045

And back to work in the room…

047

And my finished pages

051

this one looks nothing like it started out…

002

Waking up to a little more creative play

003

The view from our room.

005

All cleared out…this is the aftermath of 2 full days of creative planning

007

Julie continues to document…and I document her documenting 😉

010

It was a beautiful location…the little speck there is Julie going to get the car.

014

We were thrilled our visit coincided with the Marin County Antique Fair…many great finds here.

016

Lunch at the Blue Barn in Corte Madera…Yummy!

019

As we finished lunch a darling trio of Jazz singers started performing…they sang music from the 30’s and 40’s

034

And then heading back south.  It was a refreshing and rejuvenating weekend.  We have many amazing things in store for you in the coming 6 months..stay tuned!

I kept looking at other’s papers and having paper envy but I LOVE how my paper came out…it is the one with the eyeballs on it…can you spy which one it is?

Chrissie and her darling daughter, Amy made a mother/daughter art play date of it!

Vision Boards Sunday

Standard

Please don’t miss the opportunity to participate in the Vision Board Workshop with the lovely Julie Valentine coming up this Sunday, January 20th from 11 am – 1:30 pm…If you have to re-arrange your schedule…cancel stuff.. DO IT!  You will be glad you did!!

This workshop will provide a peaceful space to create your vision board. We will explore the role of vision boards in goal setting and discuss how journaling can support you in the process! I will guide you through a series of steps that I have learned over years of creating vision boards of my own. You will be given time select images and create a vision board of your own.

I will also give you the opportunity to practice a valuable journaling process to help you capture any inspired ideas that might lead you to your goal. I call this process “Idea catching” and I will share with you the process of capturing your inspired actions in an “Idea Cather” or Idea journal. This journal is unique in that it holds every wild idea, clue, phone number, map, quote that will lead you to your goal. These journals have been extremely powerful in capturing inspired actions that result from focusing on my vision boards and has lead me to solutions and surprising results.

With your Vision Board and Idea Catcher, you will have everything you need to creative fabulous year!

What to Bring?

Images (optional)
You will have time to pull images during the workshop, but for some people it takes time to find the right images. Feel free to collect images from magazines on your own and bring them to the workshop. Look for images that represent what you want to experience.

An Image of YOU
For the vision board you will need a photograph of you or an image of something that represents you for the collage. I suggest that you make a color copy of any images since we will be using them in the vision board.

Magazines to Share (optional)
Magazines will be provided for you to rip and tear. If you would like to bring magazines to share, please do!
