New 8-Week Jewelry Series

Folks tend to like to commit to a series of classes to really learn something in depth.  To that end I’ve put 8 of my favorite, most popular and most fundamental jewelry classes to give you a chance to really explore the world of handmade jewelry.  Even if you’ve taken a few of these classes, the series is a great deal for you to come back and expand your skills.

Check out what we are starting on Wednesday, January 13th.

Week 1:  Wire Wrapping 101 – This is the basis for most (if not all) of the jewelry construction workshops we teach here.  Learning and refining your wire wrapping skill takes the sort of repetition this class offers.

Week 3: Fused Silver Bracelet – Now it is time to move on to something else you can do with wire…fine silver wire that is.  In this workshop you will wrap coils and cut with precision so that you create links that will actually be melted (fused) back on themselves.  This process can be used to create your own fine silver chain and even rings.

Week 7: Etched & Wrapped Bracelet – Etching is the cool process of adding a resist to metal then dipping it in a corosive chemical that will eat the metal away except where you placed the resist.  Don’t be scared though…we teach you all the safety precautions and hold your hand (figuratively) through every step.  As your metal is doing it’s magic you will have a chance to practice your wire wrapping skills as you create the band portion of the bracelet.

Final Fourteen – Day 4

Just “4” you for day 4 is a set of SIX chalkboard on Kraft Gift Bags.

giftbag

As always..hop on over to ETSY and pick up a set (or two or three…) to take care of all of your holiday (and year round) gift giving needs.

They are only $10 …here are the details:

This kit contains all you need to create SIX (8 x 4 1/2 x 10 1/4″) decorated kraft gift bags. Each come handpainted with a swatch of black chalkboard paint.

The kit contains a sheet of white transfer paper, white charcoal pencil, a printout for the “Just for You” as shown in the example and 10 sheets of kraft colored tissue and of course the 6 gift bags.

All you have to do is layer the design and transfer paper and trace the design onto the chalkboard surface. If you want another design, simply go online and print something else out to fit the 5×7 (roughly) area or freehand it! Make a mistake? No problem. Transfer paper is erasable and the charcoal pencil wipes away with a wet cloth. Seal the surface after you are happy with your design with a spritz of hairspray.

Final Fourteen – Day 1

I truly enjoyed the challenge of offering the “first fourteen” at the other end of this year we are finishing up.

finalfourteen

I often feel behind in the whole “retail” aspect of my business.  To be honest that is NOT my passion….being a hands-on maker of things is where I loose all track of time.  I hope you will follow along and pick up some customized goodies these first fourteen days of the final month of 2014.  I figured I’d give you a chance to find some handmade (#shopsmall ) gifts sooner rather than later.

Here is the first offering
