I look forward to this time away with Julie 2 times a year. Usually we head to the Santa Cruz Mts. but this time we headed north to Mill Valley.
Packed and ready! Taking 4 times as much art supplies as clothes/toiletries!
First stop…Julie’s house…check out the painting she is working on outside!…love love love!
next stop, Daiso
Hello office supplies…I love you so!…by the end of the weekend I decided on a trade to work on for the upcoming Art Is You Retreat in Petaluma using something in this photograph.
Our awesome haul
Then Julie turned me on to a cool shop called Typo. It is a Canadian based office/school supply shop with some pretty cool kitschy stuff.
We got a giggle out of this sign
A fun shot crossing the bridge
My haul from daiso all spread out…some things for me…some for the studio…some for my kids
We made quick work of spreading out our supplies…the hotel staff looked at us a bit weird when we asked for a folding table to be brought up to our room…
Working on my 31 day challenge
Just before turning the lights out to go to sleep…we’ve made quite start to our creative weekend
this is the page I’ll work on for the day’s “encouraging word…” just wait to see what it becomes…
On Friday evening we drove to Tiburon and saw these amazing huge pieces of art in this field…we headed back out to see what it was all about
Love how Julie documents the moments and really “lives in” her weekly journal…that is not the only thing she carries in her purse though….
She also carries a bag of scrabble tiles…we had fun at lunch making random words and taking photos of them
Adorable shops in Tiburon
And back to work in the room…
And my finished pages
this one looks nothing like it started out…
Waking up to a little more creative play
The view from our room.
All cleared out…this is the aftermath of 2 full days of creative planning
Julie continues to document…and I document her documenting 😉
It was a beautiful location…the little speck there is Julie going to get the car.
We were thrilled our visit coincided with the Marin County Antique Fair…many great finds here.
Lunch at the Blue Barn in Corte Madera…Yummy!
As we finished lunch a darling trio of Jazz singers started performing…they sang music from the 30’s and 40’s
And then heading back south. It was a refreshing and rejuvenating weekend. We have many amazing things in store for you in the coming 6 months..stay tuned!
